What are Chakras?

The word Chakra is Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the oldest language in India, dates back to about 5000 years old and can be found in the scriptures of Hindu, Buddha, and Jainism. The word Chakra translates to the words "wheel"or "disk". Chakras refer to the "wheels of energy" throughout the body. When our chakras are balanced and spinning in the right direction positive energy is able to freely flow throughout the body. There are seven main chakras.  However, did you know that there can be up to 114 mini chakras throughout your body? These mini chakras are used in medicinal practices like Acupuncture.

What we want to do is  keep our 7 major chakras open, balanced, repaired and spinning in the right direction. We want them connected with each other so they can flow between each of them and stay connected. When we have blockages our energy can not flow properly, and remains stagnant, creates imbalances and can cause health issues.  We can keep our chakras in balance by being aware of what it feels like when one or more of our chakras are out of balance.

How to know if our chakras are blocked?

  1. We feel "off"
  2. We are sick.
  3. We feel stressed.
  4. We are constantly in reaction.

When the chakras are in balance we stay in positive vibrational energy. We stay connected to source. We live in peace not fear. We stay healthy. We live in the vibration of joy. We detach (don't react).

The vital life force(energy)that flows through our body is called, Prana. This energy is what keeps us in a positive, abundant, healthy, high vibrational state.  Prana is the energy that courses throughout our body.  Our chakras are like swirling wheels of energy where the physical and consciousness meet.

Each of our chakras corresponds to major organs in our body and our nerves system. The 7 major chakras also connect to our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.
